Jairo Sanz

Screenwriter. Feature films, horror and dark humour.

I have loved films for as long as I can remember. In 2018, I began studying drama and performing arts, and during that time I also started writing stories. It did not take long for me to realise that if I wanted to tell them properly, I needed to learn how to write screenplays. In 2020, I completed my first screenplay, Ávido.

I write feature films, with a particular interest in horror and dark humour, often in the same story. I write in English, Spanish, Catalan and Norwegian.

To date, I have written several screenplays, with my most notable work including two feature films and two short films.

Full scripts are available to producers and production companies on request.

Ávido

2020

Feature film, horror. Written in Spanish.

A group of students arrives in a village in rural Spain to interview its elderly residents about a wave of disappearances fifty years earlier. The more the locals tell them, the more they want to know, and the further they go, the clearer it becomes that nobody should have asked.

Completed. Received several offers; rights still available.

Cada tres minutos

2021

Short film, thriller. Written in Spanish.

Friends come home from a night out and linger in the entrance hall of their building, where the light switches itself off every three minutes. Each time someone turns it back on, the conversation is a little less friendly, until it stops being a conversation at all.

Completed. Rights available.

Ama de casa

2021

Short film, crime. Written in Spanish.

An ordinary housewife, as far as anyone can tell, becomes one of the country's most powerful drug kingpins. How she gets there is the story.

Completed. Rights available.

En uheldig helg working title

2026

Feature film, anthology. Horror and dark humour.

Five stories, one unlucky weekend. An anthology rooted in Nordic and Scandinavian folklore, where the old tales turn out to be less quaint than the tourist board suggests.

In development. Written in English, to be translated into Norwegian for production in Norway.

Based in Tallinn, Estonia. Open to work in English, Spanish and Norwegian.
